Who we are

Selah Notes is a local-first note-taking app with Bible reference detection, verse previews, categories, reminders, backups, optional account sign-in, feedback, private rating feedback, and optional support links.

For privacy questions, contact us at support@kingstech.dev.

Information we collect

The app may handle the following types of information, depending on the features you use:

  • Notes and note settings: note titles, note body text, rich text data, categories, colors, archive/trash state, pinned state, timestamps, and reminder times.
  • Account information: if you sign in, Firebase Authentication may process your user ID, email address, display name, authentication provider, profile photo URL, and account metadata.
  • Feedback/support submissions: the message and optional subject you choose to send, your reply email, platform, submission status, timestamp, and signed-in user ID/email when available.
  • Private rating feedback: selected star rating, optional message if you submit one, rating action such as submitted or store declined, platform, status, timestamp, and signed-in user ID/email when available.
  • Analytics and crash diagnostics: non-sensitive usage events and technical crash information, described below.
  • Backups and exports: backup files you choose to create or restore can contain your notes, categories, archive/trash state, and reminder times.
  • Local preferences: onboarding status, theme choice, selected Bible version, display preferences, biometric lock settings, and similar app settings.

Information stored locally on your device

Selah Notes stores your notes primarily on your device using local app storage. This includes note content, note titles, rich note content, categories, archive/trash state, pinned state, colors, timestamps, and reminder times.

The app also stores local preferences such as whether onboarding has been completed, selected theme mode, selected Bible version, home display preferences, text size preferences, category icons, and biometric lock settings.

Selah Notes does not intentionally upload your note content to Firebase as part of normal note creation, editing, Bible reference detection, or verse preview features.

Information sent to Firebase

Selah Notes uses Firebase services for optional account features, feedback and rating submissions, analytics, and crash reporting. The app does not use Firebase to sync or store your note body content.

  • Firebase Authentication: used for optional sign-in and account management.
  • Cloud Firestore: used for feedback/support messages and private rating feedback that you choose to submit.
  • Firebase Analytics: used for non-sensitive app usage events.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: used for crash diagnostics and stability reporting.

Google Sign-In and account data

Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in with Google or another supported Firebase Authentication method, Google and Firebase may process information needed to authenticate you, such as your account identifier, email address, display name, profile photo URL, provider information, and sign-in metadata.

Selah Notes may display your account information in the app and use your signed-in email as the reply email for feedback messages. Authentication tokens are not shown to you, and the app is designed not to log tokens.

Feedback and rating submissions

If you submit a Help & Support message, Selah Notes sends that message to Cloud Firestore. The submitted record may include your message, optional subject, reply email, platform, status, timestamp, authentication status, and signed-in user ID/email if available.

If you use the Rate Selah Notes flow, your selected rating may be saved privately to Cloud Firestore. If you type optional feedback and tap Submit Feedback, that message is included. Lightweight actions such as declining the store review prompt or dismissing a low-rating sheet after selecting a rating may also be saved without any typed draft feedback.

Please do not include sensitive personal information, passwords, backup files, or private note content in feedback messages unless you intentionally choose to share that information with us.

Analytics and crash reporting

Selah Notes uses Firebase Analytics to understand basic, non-sensitive app usage. Current app events are designed to avoid note titles, note content, Bible reference text, user names, emails, backup files, OAuth tokens, passwords, search text, and local file paths.

Examples of analytics events include:

  • app opened
  • onboarding completed
  • verse popup opened, without the reference text
  • backup created, with type such as device or export
  • restore completed, with mode such as merge or replace
  • reminder created or cancelled
  • rating prompt and rating selection events, without written feedback text

Firebase Crashlytics collects technical diagnostics when the app crashes or encounters serious errors. Crash reports may include device type, operating system version, app version, stack traces, and other technical state useful for fixing bugs. Selah Notes is designed not to add note content or private user text to crash reports.

Backups and exports

Backup and export features run only when you choose to use them. A Selah Notes backup file can contain your notes, note content, rich note data, categories, category icons, archive/trash state, and reminder times.

On Android, Back Up to Device writes a backup file to a local device location such as Documents/Selah Notes. Export/share creates a JSON backup file and opens the system share sheet so you can choose where to save or send it. Restore reads a backup file you choose through the file picker.

Once you share, upload, or store a backup file outside Selah Notes, that destination's privacy practices apply.

Notifications and reminders

If you set note reminders, Selah Notes schedules local notifications on your device. Reminder notifications may display the note title and a short preview of note content so you can recognize the reminder. Reminder times are stored with your note data locally and can also be included in backup files you create.

The app may request notification permission and, on supported Android versions, exact alarm permission so reminders can fire at the intended time.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide note-taking, Bible reference detection, verse previews, categories, reminders, and backup/restore features;
  • authenticate optional accounts and manage account settings;
  • reply to support requests when you provide a reply email;
  • understand broad app usage and improve product quality;
  • diagnose crashes, bugs, and reliability issues;
  • open external services only when you choose to use those links.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not intentionally upload note content to Firebase during normal note editing, Bible reference detection, or verse preview use.
  • We do not use Analytics events to send note titles, note body text, Bible reference text typed by you, backup JSON, passwords, OAuth tokens, or private note content.
  • We do not process PayPal payment details inside Selah Notes.
  • We do not post public Play Store or App Store reviews on your behalf.

Data sharing and third-party services

Selah Notes uses or links to the following third-party services:

  • Google Firebase: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, and Crashlytics.
  • Google Sign-In: optional account authentication.
  • Google Play Store and Apple App Store: optional public rating/review flow.
  • PayPal: optional external support link.
  • Bible content providers: bundled offline Bible versions are loaded from app assets; if you select an online Bible version, the app may request the selected book, chapter, verse range, and translation from an external Bible API provider to display verse text.

These third parties process information according to their own privacy policies.

Data retention

Notes and local preferences remain on your device until you edit, delete, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Trashed notes may remain locally for a limited period before being purged by the app.

Backup files remain wherever you choose to save or share them until you delete them. Feedback, rating submissions, analytics, crash reports, and authentication records are retained in Firebase according to the Firebase project configuration and operational needs.

Children's privacy

Selah Notes is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information through feedback, ratings, or account sign-in, contact us so we can review the request.

Security

We use Firebase services, platform security features, local device storage, and app-level safeguards to protect information. You can also enable biometric lock where supported. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so avoid placing highly sensitive information in notes, feedback, or backup files unless you are comfortable managing that risk.

Your choices

  • You can use core note-taking features without signing in.
  • You can choose whether to submit feedback or private rating feedback.
  • You can choose whether to create, share, or restore backup files.
  • You can choose whether to set reminders and grant notification permissions.
  • You can delete notes in the app and delete exported backup files from wherever you saved them.
  • You can sign out of your account from the app and contact us about privacy questions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Selah Notes changes or when legal, platform, or service requirements change. The Last updated date at the top of this page shows when this policy was most recently revised.
